Description

The Caribbean region is now facing the challenges of reducing inflation, maintaining financial stability, strengthening financial inclusion, restoring debt sustainability, as well as creating fiscal space to build resilience to climate change and withstand external shocks. Through its executed work program in FY2023 and its planned work program for FY2024, presented in this annual report, CARTAC continues to strengthen human and institutional capacity to design and implement sound macroeconomic and financial policies that promote growth and reduce poverty in the Caribbean. The Centre provided in-person Technical Assistance (TA) to all its member countries in FY2023. It also organized many regional training activities virtually to maximize attendance and save costs. During its TA and training activities, the Centre encouraged peer-to-peer sharing of learning experiences. During the June 2023 Steering Committee meeting, the IMF’s Fiscal Affairs Department staff, and the Centre’s resident advisors, presented how they plan to build resilience to climate change and promote gender equality in their CD activities in FY2024 and beyond. Development partners continue to recognize the value of CARTAC’s work.
