A magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck Haiti on Saturday, August 14, 2021, causing severe damage in at least two cities with probable “high casualties,” according to the U.S. Geological Survey. Seismologists said the epicenter of the quake was 78 miles west of the capital of Port-au-Prince. It was felt as far away as 200 miles in Jamaica.
