The Introduction to IUU Fishing course, run by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, seeks to provide an overview of illegal unreported and unregulated (‘IUU’) fishing, including the definition, global impact and scale of IUU fishing, how international instruments seek to prevent, deter and eliminate IUU fishing; and the practice of regional organizations to combat IUU fishing. Course objectives are: understand the meaning of the term IUU fishing; causes, impact and scale of IUU fishing; how international instruments seek to prevent, deter and eliminate IUU fishing; the practice of regional organizations to combat IUU fishing To earn credit for the course and receive a certificate, you must take a final exam consisting of 20 questions with unlimited attempts. The minimum score is a 70%. NOTE: Save your certificate, as it will not be available for download again once the course has closed.
