Ana Moreno Salvo AIRISS model and TBL, thinking based learning. An educational proposal tailored to the 21st Century

Abstract:

The great changes of the 21st century challenge us to analyze our educational systems and to transform them to adapt to the new needs. Over the past decades educational research and innovation have generated numerous solutions, which aim to respond to the main problems of this transformation: what to learn and how.

This proposal identifies six personal qualities that are needed to face the challenges of the new Century: Autoestima, Identidad, Resiliencia, Integridad, Sociabilidad, Sabiduría, and a methodology, TBL, thinking based learning, to develop them effectively.

Gabriela C. Díaz and Valeria M. Goluza, Creating a Culture of Thinking in a Bilingual Context

Abstract:

When facing the challenge of incorporating Thinking Visible and Teaching for Understanding projects, an adaptation had to be made to both our programme and the original proposal by Harvard University researchers. We have made different adjustments to thinking tools and documentation to suit our needs and still promote a culture of thinking. Correspondences and differences will be analyzed in our presentation.

Participants will be invited to take a deep look at their particular contexts and share which adjustments and adaptations are needed to suit their institutions and design their teaching programme.

Gilberto Pinzon and Ana Maria Fernandez Thinking as a pedagogical strategy and the development of the must-have skills for a ever-changing world of automation and artificial intelligence

Abstract:

Over the past few decades, education has been devoted to the conquest of knowledge through understanding. There is a growing awareness of the importance of encouraging higher thinking skills to seek out individual and collective learning. On this session, presenters will share students’ work along with their experience implementing the TPE Thinking as a Pedagogical Strategy in six preschools in Florida, USA and several schools in Latin America and Spain. Participants will explore the power of TPE, and the use of different thinking tools and strategies to promote understanding and to develop habits of mind and thinking dispositions in schools.
