Document Guidelines

Athenaeum accepts two types of submissions:

Original Articles presenting unpublished research, projects, or creative work related to library and information science, and Recontextualized Works that expand on a prior presentation, poster, or similar output with a new, substantive article.

  1. Original Articles: These are works that have not been published or presented elsewhere. They may include research articles, white papers, case studies, reports, multimedia projects, or other scholarly/professional outputs.

If you conducted new research, created a new library program, or developed a digital exhibit you have not shared publicly before, submit it here as an original article.

  1. Recontextualized Works: These are works you originally presented in another venue (e.g., conference, workshop, internal presentation) that are now expanded into an article for Athenaeum. A recontextualized work includes:
  • A contextual article (minimum 1,000 words) that explains the background, methods, results, and relevance to library and information science.
  • The original materials (slides, poster, handouts, multimedia, etc.) submitted as supplementary files.

If you presented a poster at a conference and want to write about your process and findings in more depth, submit the article as your primary file and the original poster as a supplementary file.

Language Requirement

All submissions and abstracts must be in English, even if the original presentation or materials are in another language.

Abstract

  • All submissions must include an abstract of up to 300 words.
  • Write the abstract in English, summarizing the work’s scope, approach, and significance to library and information science.
  • For Recontextualized Works, include when and where the original presentation occurred and note any updates since then.
