About This Journal
Whether you are sharing new research or building on past work, Athenaeum offers a platform to amplify your ideas and connect them to a wider professional audience.
Athenaeum is an open-access, peer-reviewed journal showcasing the scholarly and creative work of Florida International University (FIU) Libraries faculty and staff. It provides a venue for publishing original scholarship as well as for expanding the reach of work first presented in other venues.
Contributors may submit either:
- Original work that has not been previously published or presented, or
- Recontextualized work in which a prior presentation, poster, digital exhibit, or similar output is paired with a new, substantive article that situates the work in a broader professional, scholarly, or institutional context.
The journal accepts research articles, case studies, reports, and other text-based scholarship as primary submissions. These may present original work or provide new, substantive context for prior outputs—such as slide decks, multimedia projects, datasets, or digital exhibits—by situating them within a broader scholarly, professional, or institutional framework. Topics span all areas of library and information science, and interdisciplinary perspectives are encouraged.
The mission of Athenaeum is to:
- Support the professional growth and visibility of FIU Libraries faculty and staff
- Promote open access to library scholarship and creative work
- Foster engagement and dialogue within and beyond the library and information science community
Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis and undergo editorial and peer review.
