Abstract

Artists utilizing archival materials within their works or for research purposes isn’t a new concept, but the pandemic motivated some artists to dive deeper into collections for inspiration. With many exhibit venues offering remote access only or a hybrid mix of remote and in-person visits, artists had to reimagine the kinds of works they could create from accessible archival materials that would also work well in a blended exhibition environment. Three institutions (MDPLS, FIU, and MDC) discuss the artists that have found inspiration within their archival collections.
