Abstract
This poster presentation will show the steps taken to process and create a digital collection from bound volumes of Miami Life, a local historical tabloid newspaper from the 1920s to the 1940s. The project involved learning and applying the best practices for scanning, image processing, text recognition, metadata creation, research, quality control and ingestion of records into a digital repository. This presentation will focus on the lessons learned by the interns tasked with digitizing this collection of local newspapers, and is intended to be a guide for those who may be interested in implementing a similar digitization project.
