Malaika handbook, 1971-1972 by United Black Students Malaika, a handbook published in the 1970s and 1980s by the United Black Students organization, lists resources and organizations by and for the Black students and faculty of the University of Miami. Malaika is an African term of Swahili origin that means togetherness.
In the spring of 1967, the University of Miami extended formal recognition to the United Black Students group, which was organized and led by Harold Long (student representative) and William Butler (Vice President for Student Affairs).
