Burning Man is a yearly event located in Black Rock Desert in northwestern Nevada. The temporary city, Black Rock City (BRC), was home to nearly 70,000 people last year and lasts for only 7 days. Some of the most striking features of BRC are the massive interactive art installations, numerous interactive theme camps, and the countless opportunities for both planned and unplanned creative play. This city of 7 square miles is a thriving metropolis built to provide a social environment designed to experience the joyfulness of pure play. A literature review on play reveals it can be an important source of relaxation and stimulation while fueling one’s imagination, creativity, problem-solving abilities, and emotional well-being. Black Rock City is a magical city of imagination, of inspiration, and of sheer fun. This poster session hopes to illustrate the exuberant passion that exists for play at Burning Man.
