Abstract
Therapeutic inhaled essential oils are known to be the safest form of essential oil use. The therapeutic use of essential oils is a type of complimentary alternative medicine that can provide an increased comfort levels in individuals. In pediatric primary care, it is common for patients to experience discomfort and anxiety while waiting to be seen. This quality improvement project aims to assess and increase caregiver knowledge level on essential oils. This project utilizes a pretest post-test design with an educational intervention. The pretest and post test questions assessed knowledge regarding the definition of essential oils, their use, and safety considerations. Knowledge improvement was gauged by allowing a two-week time span to take place between the educational intervention and the posttest.
