Description

This abstract presents a systematic review directly comparing the Mediterranean and traditional Japanese diets in relation to cognitive aging. Thirteen studies were analyzed, including randomized controlled trials, cohort studies, and meta-analyses, showing that both dietary patterns are associated with a reduced risk of dementia and cognitive decline. The findings highlight the potential for expanding brain-health dietary recommendations beyond the Mediterranean diet and call for head-to-head randomized trials.
