Description
The concepts of health, one health and planetary health are important to understand why integrated approaches are needed for the prevention of chronic diseases. Public health needs to focus on moving from data to action. The recent 2024 "data, information, knowledge, intelligence and wisdom paradigm" paper in the Pan American Journal of Public Health helps to understand how to move from data to action better and faster. Examples are given to explain the new definitions of intelligence (actionable knowledge) and wisdom (tested intelligence). It is concluded that public health should better understand our world and the connections between health domains and different variables in their interactions with all living and non-living things. Finally, public health should focus on turning data into action, and making changes.
