In this interview, Mike Lambrechts talks about the strong connections and ties he has with South Florida water and habitat conservation efforts. Being from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and now volunteering, Mike has always been around water. He shares how important the work he is doing is to involve community outreach, through his volunteer leadership with Coastal Conservation Association (CCA). He stresses the importance and impact that education is having on youths, through hands-on experiences, and is able to share his own personal experiences in what coastal conservation efforts look like from a community perspective.

Biography:
Mike Lambrechts was born and raised in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida in Broward County. He has always had an interest in marine conservation efforts, beginning with his fishing club that he founded in 2015. After becoming President of the fishing club, he began volunteering in collaboration with his current non-profit organization, Coastal Conservation Association (CCA). Mike began involving himself more and more in the CCA’s conservation efforts, which involved projects such as creating artificial reefs and restoring oyster habitats. Currently, Mike is Vice Chairman of CCA Florida, and also serves as President of the Coastal Conservation Association (CCA) of Broward County in addition to sitting on the Executive Board for CCA Florida. He also holds a Board Seat for CCA National, a 150,000 member organization that strives to meet these same goals of marine conservation in South Florida.
