Presentation Summary

As an ASHOKA U Campus, MDC is committed to changemaking education, empowering all students to engage in creating positive change. MDC libraries play a pivotal role in advancing this commitment by cultivating partnerships with faculty, facilitating undergraduate research workshops, organizing needs-assessment seminars, and hosting symposia. These fruitful collaborations have resulted in semester-long research projects in English, Speech, Business, and Psychology courses. Librarians and writing tutors have also provided support for students who go on to present at national conferences like HERA (Humanities Education and Research Association). More recently, MDC libraries are building campus connections with STEM faculty and staff, spearheading initiatives like The Dream a Little Green Campaign. This series of events and workshops serve to connect students with professionals in the community, offering opportunities to get involved in changemaking initiatives in Homestead and Miami through service learning.
