Micaela Dayan, Managing a Culture of Thinking Early Childhood Center

Abstract:

A culture of Thinking in a school has amazing benefits for educators, children and families. Striving towards a 21st century way of educating, knowing the high impact it has for educators and students.

There are also challenges, benefits and amazing take-aways from managing a school that is based on culture of thinking.

Everything from hiring, to coaching, management, events and parent communication has to be done with culture of thinking in mind. As it might be obvious, but not easy, culture of thinking is exactly that: A culture.

Ana Maria Fernandez & Gilberto Pinzon, The ten fundamental characteristics of schools that generate sustainable cultures of thinking, understanding, and learning that reach beyond school walls

Abstract:

The world is changing at a daunting speed with implications that are difficult to assess. For students to succeed in this unknown future, effective school leaders need to identify world trends and recognize those skills needed to foster a culture of understanding, learning and thinking in their schools and communities. School leaders must visualize the in coming challenges; identify abilities necessary to face uncertainty, and develop leadership skills to engage colleagues and the community. They must act as role models who encourage collaboration and teamwork that supports a culture of understanding thinking and learning. At this workshop, the presenter will share the strategies that were applied to generate a deep change that impacted over 60 schools, 6,000 teachers and 30,000 students around the world. Participants will leave the workshop with an array of tools to inspire a long-lasting cultural transformation that supports learning, thinking, and understanding in the school and community.
