Abstract
This presentation explores the challenges associated with both starting and managing a Retrospective Theses and Dissertations (RTD) digitization project. The presentation will discuss the specific challenges involved in each step, such as digitizing (scanning and image processing), text recognition and PDF creation, locating alumni and publishing to the university’s Digital Commons. The hope is that this presentation will encourage a lively discussion and offer guidelines for those considering or already involved in digitization projects. Those attending will gain knowledge on best practices and potential pitfalls for mass digitization projects.
