Abstract
This thesis is written in two parts. The first part is devoted to my personal beliefs about music composition and my own opinions about issues of today’s world and their effects in contemporary music and art in general. All my assertions, including the ones with philosophical or sociological implications, as well as all stated using linguistic or psychological terms, represent my own personal beliefs, and is the philosophical basis of the piece that is part of this thesis, and of all my music. The second part is an analytical study of Pasiphae. For this second part, I used vectored analysis, a methodology created by David Cope, as explained in his book New Directions in Music.
