Resumen

Este artículo responde a un momento histórico atípico en el mundo, y en particular pone el foco en España, en los tres meses de confinamiento provocados por la pandemia de COVID 19. Una de las consecuencias de este estado de alarma ha sido el impacto ejercido en los hábitos de ocio de los españoles, donde la lectura y el libro, tanto impreso como electrónico, han tenido un importante papel para personas de distintos grupos de edad. A partir de los resultados de diversos informes y encuestas de diferente envergadura, se habla aquí del comportamiento lector de los españoles derivado del obligatorio encierro y se muestra que la lectura entró a formar parte de las actividades a las que mayormente se consagraron los ciudadanos en el tiempo de pandemia.

Abstract

This article responds to an atypical historical moment in the world and focuses on Spain during the three months of quarantine due to the Covid-19 outbreak. One of the consequences during this state of alarm has been the impact the quarantine has had in the leisure habits of Spaniards, particularly in regards to reading since books, both physical and electronic, have played an important role for people of different age groups. Based on the results of various reports and surveys of different scopes, the reading behavior of Spaniards derived from the compulsory confinement is discussed here. It is shown that reading became a part of the activities to which citizens were mostly devoted in the pandemic times.
