Description
Enacted legislation related to immigration increased in 2017 by 110 percent to 206 laws compared with 98 laws in 2016. The number of resolutions increased by 53 percent to 263 from 172. Lawmakers in 49 states enacted 206 laws and 263 resolutions related to immigration, for a total of 469. An additional 15 bills were vetoed by governors. One state, Alaska, did not enact immigration-related legislation in 2017. The three most active states were California (91 laws and resolutions), Texas (61) and Illinois (39).
