Este documento hace una breve revisión de los estudios académicos más representativos de la literatura económica internacional que relacionan conflicto y recursos naturales. Estos estudios son en su mayoría cross country, y plantean generalidades sobre dichas relaciones. La mayoría de países que se han estudiado cuentan con recursos mineros tales como diamantes o petróleo. Estos estudios muestran una relación positiva entre duración del conflicto y presencia de recursos. Dicha relación es más fuerte entre más fácil de transportar sean los recursos.
This document makes a brief review of the most representative academic studies in the international economic literature that relate conflict and natural resources. These studies are mostly cross country , and provide generalities about these relationships. Most of the countries that have been studied have mineral resources such as diamonds or oil. These studies show a positive relationship between the duration of the conflict and the presence of resources. This relationship is stronger the easier the resources are to transport.
