Following Water in the Wake of Cholera: Relation, coloniality, and the Poetics of Osmosis in Haiti’s Artibonite Valley

Victoria Koski-Karell, University of Michigan

Description

Considering Haiti's current security state, significant efforts have existed to detail the unique constituting elements. Koski-Karell (2023) uses their article to offer the role of violent geographical conditions on the progress of the Toto gang. With the leadership of Toto Constant, who established significant relationships with other gang leaders and political cartels, the gang formulated all attacks. The gang's composition, which included over one hundred members, had relevant impacts on their existence (Koski-Karell, 2023). Besides, the current article interlinks the limitations and challenges that the gang had on development, more by limiting the successful coordination of essential and public roles. As argued by the author, the current article presents much information on the interconnection between developmental functions and gang violence.
