XXIII AMNET International Conference: Global Health in the AI Era: Integrating Brain Health and Chronic Disease Surveillance for Sustainable Public Health Systems

September 24–25, 2026, Valencia, Spain

The Americas' Network for Chronic Disease Surveillance (AMNET) is a nonprofit, non-governmental organization that has been promoting chronic disease surveillance, translating knowledge into action, and building public health capacity in the Americas (North America, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean) for 20 years. It also promotes the integration of governmental and non-governmental organizations to advance the training of health personnel in chronic disease surveillance, control, and prevention. We are pleased to invite you to participate in the XXIII AMNET International Conference: Global Health in the AI Era: Integrating Brain Health and Chronic Disease Surveillance for Sustainable Public Health Systems, which will be hosted by the Universidad Católica de Valencia in Valencia, Spain, September 24–25, 2026. The Conference brings together global leaders, researchers, and policymakers to advance the transformation of public health systems in a data-driven era. Through three strategic axes, the conference promotes the integration of artificial intelligence, ethical governance, and brain health within the global non-communicable disease (NCD) agenda to build more predictive, equitable, and sustainable health systems.

1) Artificial Intelligence for Epidemiological Surveillance: Predictive Modeling in Chronic Diseases and Brain Health This axis examines how artificial intelligence and advanced statistical approaches are redefining epidemiological surveillance in NCDs and brain health. It goes beyond technical innovation by focusing on the transformation of fragmented information systems into predictive platforms capable of anticipating disease burden, inequalities, and resource needs. By integrating classical epidemiology, machine learning, and data governance, this theme aims to strengthen public health decision-making and improve system responsiveness.
2) Ethics, Regulation and Governance of Artificial Intelligence in Public Health This axis addresses the critical need for robust regulatory and ethical frameworks in the adoption of AI in public health. It explores how to balance technological innovation with data protection, transparency, and digital equity. With a particular focus on European and Latin American contexts, it promotes governance models that ensure responsible, inclusive, and accountable use of data and algorithms in health systems.
3) Brain Health at the Core of the NCD Agenda: From Cardiometabolic Risk to Global Aging This axis repositions brain health as a central component of the global NCD agenda. It emphasizes the integration of chronic disease prevention—particularly cardiometabolic conditions—with social determinants of health, population aging, and the promotion of modifiable healthy lifestyles. The goal is to advance a comprehensive, life-course approach that strengthens resilience, reduces multimorbidity, and promotes overall well-being.

Your participation will help fulfill AMNET's main goal: improving society through actions aimed at the surveillance, prevention, and control of chronic diseases and their risk factors in the Americas and the Caribbean.

We look forward to your participation!
