Description / Descripción

Educators’ abilities to learn and implement new teaching practices are enhanced through mentoring (Hobbs & Stovall 2015). The Project Approach is a set of teaching strategies which asks children to research topics that interest them and empowers teachers to guide children through an in depth long-term study of relevant topics. We mentored and supported each teacher to think critically about their implementation of the project approach for a deeper understanding of how to implement it.

The presenters will share the data collected from a year-long professional development and mentorship program. They will also collaboratively share their journey with one of the schools as they further developed their curriculum and transformed their child centered teaching practices and teachers critical thinking about their practice through project based learning.
