Why should students enroll in and complete online degrees receive their diplomas the without attending a graduation ceremony?

Technology is advanced enough to create a platform for avatars of students to attend virtual graduations, listen to the speeches of the president of the university and the obligatory guest speaker, walk up to the podium and shake the hands of the dean, provost and president, and receive a diploma.

Avatars of students will be able to talk to avatars of their classmates and site in an area of the virtual auditorium that is designated for graduates.

At the end of the graduation ceremony the avatars can toss their mortarboards high up in the air and celebrate their accomplishment like graduates tend to do at the end of face-to-face graduation ceremonies.
