Teaching Thinking: A Thirty Year Perspective

From 1980-1995 American education was focused on teaching thinking with an emphasis that departments of education, professional organizations, and publishers had not pursued before nor demonstrated since. This session explores the conditions that gave rise to this initiative, as well as the organizations and programs that contributed to it. We will discuss how the teaching thinking movement influenced current practice, limitations in its implementation, and opportunities for future development.
