Description / Descripción

What underlying psychological factors have prevented us from alleviating conflict associated with ideological interaction throughout history? How can education begin be used to address it practically? What are the unique societal benefits from taking such a root cause approach?

The aim of this proposal is to describe via human psychology and evolutionary biology, why conflict associated with ideological interactions has been an unsolved problem throughout recorded history. A reflection the current approaches being employed indicate the underlying psychological needs of the individuals that give rise to conflict are only addressed indirectly. If this problem is not dealt with appropriately, it would be reasonable to expect continued deterioration of the relationships between different ideological groups. Thus making disastrous conflicts like those during first half of the 20th century a probability. It is the most critical issue of our time and we must come together as educators to address the core underlying issues.
