Reflections of Academics on the Ethics of University Military Research
Abstract
The author analyzes and surveys the concerns of a group of academics about military research on university campuses. Academics quoted and cited by the author argue that the classified nature of military research violates the elementary tenets of academic inquiry and academic freedom. The article concludes by examining a number of high-profile cases of controversial military research projects that have been opposed by faculty and/or students.
